Why we accept donations
Running a preservation archive at this scale has real costs. Every game in the Codex has been physically purchased, scanned, recorded, and processed by hand. The digital infrastructure that hosts the archive - asset storage, domain registration, bandwidth - has ongoing running costs even when kept as lean as possible.
Donations go directly toward those costs and toward acquiring games for preservation. If a rare variant needs sourcing, or a second copy is needed to find a cleaner scan, that costs money. Every contribution, however small, goes back into the archive.
The Mega Drive Codex will always be free to access. That will never change.
